Mechanic Text Alerts: SMS Consent and Opt-In
Last updated: October 20, 2026
Biggie Auto is a repair, diesel, towing and vehicle sales shop in Marquette, Nebraska, near Grand Island. Our mechanics keep delivery trucks running, and when a delivery driver reports a problem with one of those trucks, we text the mechanics who will handle it. This page sets out how we collect their consent first, what the messages contain, and how consent records are kept. It is published so that our mechanics, our messaging provider, and carrier compliance reviewers can check the process for themselves.
Who Receives These Messages
Recipients are exclusively Biggie Auto’s own mechanics whom the shop has picked to handle truck repairs. These are not messages to customers, to vehicle buyers, to the drivers who report problems, or to the general public. Nobody is added to this program who does not work for Biggie Auto, and there is no way for a member of the public to sign up.
What These Text Messages Are
Each message tells a mechanic about a truck that needs attention. Messages are limited to:
- Truck issues reported by delivery drivers: the truck, how serious the problem is, and what was reported
This program does not send marketing or promotional messages of any kind, and it does not send messages to customers or the general public.
Examples of messages we send
Biggie Auto: Truck 512 - OUT OF SERVICE: Brakes grinding on the left front. Reported by Marco D. Details in Driver Reports. Reply STOP to opt out.
Biggie Auto: Truck 408 - SLOWS THE ROUTE: Side door latch sticks. Reported by Ana P. Details in Driver Reports. Reply STOP to opt out.
Biggie Auto: Truck 233 - NEEDS ATTENTION SOON: Check engine light on since this morning. Reported by Luis G. Details in Driver Reports. Reply STOP to opt out.
How We Collect Consent
Consent is collected in writing. There is no verbal opt-in and no public sign-up form.
When a mechanic is hired, or is first picked to receive truck-issue alerts, they are offered a separate, optional SMS consent form. The form discloses the type of messages sent, the message frequency, that message and data rates may apply, and how to opt out. The mechanic writes in the mobile number they want messages sent to, then signs and dates the form. A mechanic is added to the program only after that signed form is received and recorded.
Giving consent is optional and is not a condition of employment. Mechanics who decline, and mechanics who later opt out, still receive every truck issue by email and in the shop’s repair queue.
Consent Form Language
The following is the exact text presented to and signed by each mechanic. A printable copy of the form, exactly as it is handed out, is also published.
I agree to receive text messages from Biggie Auto about truck issues reported by delivery drivers, so I can respond to repairs. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. Reply HELP for help. I understand that giving this consent is optional, that it is not a condition of my employment, and that I may withdraw it at any time by replying STOP or by telling my manager.
Records of Consent
Each signed consent form is kept on file and recorded in our shop system. The record includes the mechanic’s name, the mobile number they provided, the date the form was signed, the exact text of the form presented, and the person who recorded it. Withdrawals of consent are recorded the same way, with the date and the method used. These records are available for inspection on request by the mechanic, by our messaging service provider, or by a carrier compliance reviewer.
Message Frequency and Costs
Message frequency varies and depends on how many truck problems drivers report. On a typical day a mechanic receives a few messages; when several trucks report problems at once, that number may be higher. Message and data rates may apply.
Opt-Out and Help
You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message you receive from us. After you reply STOP, we send a single confirmation message and send no further messages to that number. You may opt back in at any time by replying START. Reply HELP at any time to receive a short message identifying us and telling you how to reach us.
A mechanic may also withdraw consent by telling their manager or by sending a written request to the address below. Withdrawing consent has no effect on a mechanic’s employment or standing.
No Sharing of Mobile Information
Mobile phone numbers and text-message consent information are used solely to deliver the messages described in this program. Biggie Auto does not share or sell mobile phone numbers or text-message opt-in information with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information is shared only with the messaging service provider we use to deliver messages on our behalf, and only as needed to deliver those messages.
